Raymond S. HOBACK - 29th Division.
Bedford Boys Fallen - Raymond Samuel HOBACK never had a chance to reach 100 years old today. Instead, he sacrified his life for our freedom... Raymond may have made it out of his landing craft, but he never made it to shore. Others recall seeing his body in the water. Bedford also failed to make in on the beach. He was killed by an exploding 88mm shell. Their time in the battle could be measured in minutes... [American D-Day facebook] Read more...

RIP - Robert GIGUERE - Navy.
It is with heavy heart we learn the passing of Mr. Robert GIGUERE, a veteran of D-Day (Normandy)... He was 93... Let us remember those young soldiers who changed the course of history with their sacrifice. Let us commit ourselves to remembering their sacrifice by cherishing the freedom they bought for all generations that follow. Honored by Laurent Lefebvre [June 6, 2024] |

I visited the cemetery at Normandy Beach 4-2017. My story is almost exactly like the post before mine. I am from Ohio and wanted to put my rose on the grave of an Ohio soldier. Having walked awhile and seeing a number of Ohio soldiers I chose to place mine at the stone of Joseph Motoevich. Somet Honored by John Snyder [2017-05-10 02:33:03] |

I was in Normandy in April of 2015. We visited the National Cemetery at Omaha Beach. I was given a rose and asked to place it at the foot of a cross. Since I was born and raised in Ohio, I looked for a name from Ohio. I found Joseph Motoevich's name and place my rose by his cross and thanked hi Honored by Lyndon Brumby [2015-06-22 00:10:15] |
