I am Pamela Murray, the daughter of 1st Lt. Roy William Murray. With the help of many people, French and American, I have just today received a great posthumous medal for my father. Correction of the above information thanks to Pamela Murray, Bill's daughter. Roy William Murray (Bill) was a 1st Lt. with the 508th PIR who parachuted into Normandy in the early hours on D-Day. Our mother's cousin Bill Murray was killed by friendly fire when his unit was being fired upon by an American unit nearby. Bill, as the leader, crawled over to tell them to stop shooting, but they killed him.
